Understanding the Usage Steps of the Nitrogen Purification Device

Nitrogen purification refers to the use of physical or chemical methods to remove impurities from nitrogen. In the industrial process of nitrogen impurity removal, the main impurity to be removed is oxygen in nitrogen to improve the purity of nitrogen. The nitrogen purification device takes the crude nitrogen produced by pressure swing adsorption as the raw material. Through the processes of adding nitrogen for catalytic deoxidation, two-stage drying and dust removal by condensing water adsorption, it removes impurities such as oxygen, water vapor and dust in the nitrogen, so as to obtain high-purity nitrogen.

 

The usage steps of the nitrogen purification device are as follows:

 

The first step is deoxidation. The crude nitrogen is mixed with the added nitrogen and then enters the deoxidizer. Under the action of the catalyst, the impurity oxygen in the crude nitrogen reacts with hydrogen to generate water vapor. The temperature of the deoxidizer is controlled at 80-100°C. In this way, all the water vapor generated by the reaction can be carried away by the gas flow, ensuring that the catalyst will not be poisoned by the water vapor and can be used for a long time without regeneration treatment.

 

The second step is condensation and dust removal. The nitrogen and water vapor are first cooled to room temperature by a water cooler, and then enter a refrigerated dryer to be further cooled below the dew point. After that, they enter a moisture separator to remove the condensed water in the gas.

 

The third step is drying. The dew point of the nitrogen after condensation and dehumidification still cannot meet the requirements, so it needs to continue to enter a molecular sieve adsorption dryer for drying to remove trace amounts of water and further reduce the dew point to the designed requirement.

 

The fourth step is filtration and dust removal. The nitrogen after drying and adsorption passes through a gas filter to remove impurities such as molecular sieve powder, and then high-purity and clean refined nitrogen is produced. This refined nitrogen can be directly transported to the furnace area as safety gas or sealing gas, or mixed with hydrogen as a protective reducing gas.
